
Varicose Vein Treatment also known as (Endovenous Ablation of Varicose Veins) RFA, uses radiofrequency or laser energy to cauterize and close varicose veins in the legs….Radiofrequency ablation is safe, less invasive than conventional surgery, and leaves virtually no scars. Oral sedation is ordered (Valium and Benadryl) for the patient to bring to the office. The medication is administered by the CMA/RN 15 minutes prior to the procedure.
It is a short term procedure generally taking 15 min-30 min
Procedures are done in a physicians office as an outpatient
Recovery time immediate. After the procedure light walking and standing are encouraged for 24-48 hour period.Then you can resume normal activities.
Compression stockings must be worn for a 2 week time period, removing them at night to sleep.
This procedure requires a 2-4 day follow up venous ultrasound test to verify closure of the vein and a 2 week post procedure follow up visit with the physician for limb assessment.
